Opened in 1990 by Andy and Terrie Andresky, 1776 has been a McHenry County favorite for over twenty-six years. ZAGAT rated consecutively since 1997, and winner of the Wine Spectator National Award since 1995, we pride ourselves on our service and menus. The Chicago Magazine attributes 1776 as one of the very first and best innovators in wild game dishes for the entire Chicago Metro area. Recently, changing hands in the winter of 2016 to another local passionate for the community and entertaining. The Andresky family leaves a great legacy to Rhienna and the dedicated staff and community. It's an exciting time for 1776 to pioneer into the future of Farm to Table offerings.

Experimenting with ingredients and incorporating his own unique flair, Santiago's creations speak for themselves at first bite. Always challenging himself, he has brought a Michoacán taste to American cuisine.

Elk, boar, ostrich and bison are just some of the unique specials starring on the excellent and interesting New American menu at this charming Crystal Lake jewel also offering a magnificent wine list (the owner, Andy, will help you choose); decor is lacking, but who cares say patriots who point to the warm, knowledgeable staffers and moderate tabs, insisting John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson and the rest would be proud to dine here. - ZAGAT
